Hunt PTO Update
6/7/14
From the Burlington School District:
Thank you, Burlington voters, for supporting the school budget on June 3rd. With your help, we are able to both scale back and yet also keep the quality in our education system to the best of our ability. Your support for the future leaders of Burlington is invaluable.
Plant and Yard Sale was another huge success at Hunt!!
Thank you to all those who donated their perennials, yard sale items, and time to make this year's Plant and Yard Sale another great success. The PTO fundraising team was able to raise over $2300 from the sale. All proceeds from the sale will go toward the upkeep and maintenance of our beautiful Hunt gardens and the Hunt front entrance beautification project. The Hunt Garden Committee will soon plant shrubs near our new electronic sign that announces our school and our events.
**The Hunt garden committee is looking for parents, staff, Hunt summer school students, community members, or BHS students looking for volunteer hours to water and lightly weed parts of the Hunt gardens over the summer. If you can help out for one or any number of weeks this summer, please contact Susan Rutherford atsusanrutherford@hotmail.com
Hunt needs several parents or staff to volunteer for next year
Many parent volunteers from the PTO will be moving on to BHS next year and these positions will need to be filled to keep our school strong and healthy.
The Hunt PTO will need a President, Treasurer, and Fundraising Chair and several more members of the team. The PTO will also need many parents and staff to attend meetings, ask questions, and vote on important PTO related topics.
UPDATE:
Dasha Zentrichova, mother of Veronika (8th grader next year), has stepped
forward to volunteer as the PTO treasurer for the 2014-15 school year. Thank you
Dasha!
Also needed for the 2014-15 school year will be a parent liaison for the student council. This year's liaison worked with students to manage the Box Tops for Education drive and the ShoeBox Recycling program, both of which are small fundraisers for the student council.
Hunt also needs gardeners to maintain our beautiful gardens, volunteer for the Healthy City Youth Farm program that manages Hunt's farm and teachers our children how vegetables are grown and supplements Burlington school lunch program with organically and locally grown vegetables.
If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities or would just like to ask a few questions about them, do not hesitate to contact either Kate Belluche at akbelluche@aol.com or Gabi Baumann at gamabaumann@burlingtontelecom.com If you inquire, that does not mean you have volunteered! It's okay to ask questions about a volunteer job or make suggestions for next year's PTO. Thanks!

Continue to hand in your Box Tops and recycle your unwanted shoes!!
The Hunt student council will continue to accept Box Tops for Education labels now and all summer. Please hand in your labels and continue to collect them for next year. The collection box is located in the Hunt main office. For more information on the national Box Tops program, www.boxtops4education.com/
The council will also continue to collect pre-loved shoes, sneakers, sandals, boots and athletic shoes (no skates, ski boots or slippers, please) now, over the summer, and next year. The collection box is located just inside the front doors to Hunt school, to the left of the auditorium entrance.
These shoes are mailed to ShoeBox Recycling, a program that collects shoes and and provides millions of people with usable shoes they may not otherwise be able to afford. Every pair of shoes we collect will be distributed for resale and reuse to various marketplaces around the world. From Arizona to Zimbabwe, all along the way, jobs are created and people are able to provide for their families as a result of your recycling of shoes.
